Romana Kryzanowska

Romana Kryzanowska, Master Teacher of the method, first met Joseph Pilates in 1941. She was a ballet dancer, and had developed a painful bone chip in her ankle. To help her avoid surgery, George Balanchine - legendary choreographer - took her to Joseph Pilates.

After a few sessions, Romana was convinced of the amazing benefits of Joseph's method. She soon became dedicated to Pilates and spent the next 30 years teaching and learning from Joseph and Clara. When they left the studio to her, Romana made a commitment to continue their life's work.

Today, in her 80s, Romana continues to teach and pass along the legacy through Romana's Pilates in New York City, exactly as she learned it from the master.
